Marham School of Performing Arts
Class Details
BALLET
Ballet classes usually begin at around 3 years of age with the Pre-Primary lessons. You can, of course, begin ballet classes at a later age, but we recommend that older students take a course of private lessons to help their development as the vocabulary and discipline is quite demanding. We like all our students to study ballet alongside their other classes, as ballet is the core of all forms of dance.

TAP
Tap classes are open to students from the age of 4. Be prepared for your child to practice in the kitchen, the hallway and anywhere else there is a hard surface. It is a favourite with our students and, like all forms of dance, is great exercise.

CONTEMPORARY MODERN JAZZ
CMJ is energetic and fun. It is a style of exxpressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres. The classes equip the students with the strength and flexibility to show emotion through interpretation of any type of music, whether it be the beat of a drum or a more modern style both of which can really show a student’s personality to the fullest. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements These classes are usually studied alongside ballet from 3 years of age.

THEATRE CRAFT
Theatre Craft is based on performance show dancing, the type of which you will see at the theatre. Full of varied styles including Musical Theatre, Pantomime, Cabaret and Commercial Dance, it is a firm favourite with our students.
PERFORMANCE CLASS
Our performance class has its focus on routines for public display. MSPA is pleased to support local residential homes, hospitals, village fetes etc. Please email us if we can entertain your guests.
DRAMA
Our drama class encompasses the whole Trinity College London sykk. As students progress through the grades, they can earn UCAS points from their examinations from Grade 6 and above.

MUSICAL THEATRE
Musical Theatre is a particular passion of Miss Amber’s. The ability to tell a story through music, dance, acting and singing is a superb ability and turns a single threat performer of acting, dance, or song, into a triple threat performer. The stamina required to perform all three at the same time is developed as the students progress through the grades.

SINGING
To compliment our Musical Theatre classes we also offer private singing lessons. Again, these can be booked in blocks of 15 or 30 minute duration (30 minutes is recommended for our older students) and are available on a first come first served basis.

MUSIC
Miss Catherine Brooke joined the faculty in May 2021. Miss C has vast experience and her skills are not limited just to Piano so please do contact us for further information of the instruments she is able to teach both children and adults.

PRIVATE LESSONS
Private lessons are open to all students. Perhaps they are new to dancing and wish to keep up with their age group or perhaps they would like some extra tuition ahead of an examination. There is however, limited availability and therefore you should register your interest early.
PRIVATE LESSONS - Mature Students
As an Examiner for the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, Miss Amber has a wealth of experience in all LAMDA genres. Private lessons are available in all subjects to enhance your learning potential and gain valuable UCAS points towards university entry or to further your career in the performing arts industry by gaining the LAMDA PCert Teaching Diploma.

As a Licentiate of the International Dance Teachers Association, Miss Amber is fully qualified to teach the Level 3 and Level 4 IDTA Diplomas in Ballet, Tap, Modern and Theatre Craft. Faculty led guided learning hours, together with independent learning hours resulting in a Class Assistants qualification (Level 3) or full Teacher qualification (Level 4). This is a degree level qualification and is open to students aged 18 and above or professional dancers looking to further their career through teaching.
